Endocrinology
We provide specialist care to people who have problems affecting their endocrine system. The endocrine system is made up a series of glands that create hormones.
We treat people who have conditions such as:
- pituitary disease
- growth disorder
- adrenal disease, such as Addison’s or nodules
- thyroid disease, such as nodules or goitres
- an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) or underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
- parathyroid disease
- obesity
Before your appointment
Before your Endocrinology appointment date, you may need to have some scans or blood tests so that the results are ready for the appointment. Blood tests will usually take place at the Planned Investigation Unit, Princess Royal University Hospital. You will receive separate information with a specific date and time to have these done.
Check your appointment letter to see if you need to do anything to prepare for your Endocrinology appointment.
What to bring to your first outpatient appointment
- Your appointment letter
- A list of any medicines you are taking
- Money for prescriptions, or an exemption certificate
- A list of any questions you want to ask.
Please allow 30 minutes for your Endocrinology appointment. If you need to have blood tests on the day, or to pick up a prescription, your visit may take longer than 30 minutes.
