Patient transport
Due to temporary problems with our non-emergency transport provider, demand for this service is particularly high at present, so please bear this in mind when contacting our teams, and requesting transport for patients.
We offer free transport for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport because:
- of their medical or mobility condition
- their medical condition would otherwise worsen.
Assessment for patient transport
All patient transport must be pre-booked.
We’ll assess whether you qualify for this service. Call us using the details in the ‘Book patient transport’ section of this page. We will ask you questions about your mobility and medical requirements.
If you would like an escort while you travel, you can request this during the assessment. There must be a medical reason for needing an escort.
If you do not qualify for free patient transport you might qualify for help with travel costs. The NHS website has more information on the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme.
